Protection Insurance
Understand the cover for you and your family.
Protection insurance can help with the financial effects of death, illness or injury. Different policies do different jobs: some provide money for your family, some replace part of your earnings and others help pay for eligible medical treatment.
Start with the people who depend on you, your regular commitments and any cover you already have. We’ll discuss your circumstances and explain the recommended cover, its cost and its limitations, so you can decide whether it meets your needs.

Start with the gap in your existing cover
Look at what would still need paying if your household lost an income. Housing costs, childcare, everyday bills and other commitments can continue even when circumstances change. Savings, sick pay and employer benefits may help, but check how much they provide and how long they last. Cover linked to employment may change when you leave a job.
Then compare the event insured, the amount payable and the length of cover—not just the premium. A lower price can come with different conditions or benefits. Health, occupation and other application details can affect the terms offered. Keep existing policies in place while any replacement is being assessed, and understand the new cover before deciding whether to change.
How protection advice works
Understand your needs
We’ll discuss your circumstances, existing cover and budget, including the people or commitments you want the insurance to support.
Explain the recommendation
We’ll explain the recommended policy, its premiums, benefits and important limitations, so you can consider what it would and would not cover.
Check the final terms
If you choose to proceed, the insurer assesses the application. Check the terms offered and the confirmed start date before relying on cover.
Getting started
Can different types of cover work together?
Yes, because they can address different needs. Life insurance supports beneficiaries after a death, while income protection concerns earnings lost through illness or injury. Check how benefits interact, what you already have and what you can afford; more policies do not automatically mean better protection.
What should I bring to a conversation?
Details of existing policies, employer benefits, regular household spending and the people who rely on you are useful. You do not need to send sensitive health information through the general contact form. An insurer may ask for medical or financial information through the appropriate application process.
Is a quote the same as being covered?
No. A quotation is not confirmation that cover has started. The insurer may need to assess your application and offer specific terms. Check acceptance, the start date and any payment requirements before relying on a policy.
Cover, exclusions and claim conditions vary. Keep up the required premiums to maintain your cover.
